Fraud prevention & online security
Fighting fraud for your peace of mind
Did you know financial crime is costing the UK over £500 million per year on credit card fraud alone?* That’s why we’re doing all we can to beat fraud and to make sure that you feel safe and secure when using your Co-operative Bank cards, calling us on the telephone or when using our internet banking service.
What are we doing?
Here at The Co-operative Bank, keeping your personal information confidential is crucial to us. To help protect all our customers we use a range of strict security measures which play a major role in combating fraud. These include:
- Sophisticated fraud prevention and detection controls used to identify threats such as Credit Card fraud and Identity Theft.
- The latest encryption technology, providing you with a safe and secure way to access your bank account online.
- Greater protection against the unauthorised use of your card for online purchases with Verified by Visa.
- The implementation of Chip & PIN technology
As Financial Crime becomes more of a growing threat we continue to work along side industry initiatives to introduce the latest technology making sure it is not possible for fraudsters to access your accounts without passing though several layers of security. In fact our internet banking channel has now been recognised by the BSI under ISO27001* the Information Security Standard.
What can you do?
Your help is essential to the success of our fight against card fraud. Please remember to use our 24 hour helpline to let us know if you intend to use your card abroad, this will help reduce the possibility of you being affected by our fraud prevention controls.
