Our new bank Ethical Policy for 2009 - because the world doesn't stand still
It is vital that we regularly update our Ethical Policy so it continues to reflect our customers' views on issues that are important to them. Last year, as part of the fifth review of our bank Ethical Policy, we invited customers to tell us what they did or didn't want to see their money financing.
A record number of customers took the time to participate, demonstrating that customers continue to value our ethical approach to banking. In fact, they issued us with an overwhelming mandate to take a tough line on some of today's most pressing issues. Our revised Policy, launched in 2009, includes nine new statements reflecting these views:
