Have your say on our ethical policies
Our ethical policies have always been based on the concerns of customers; after all, it is your money that we're investing.
We recognise that people's concerns change over time, so with this in mind, we are committed to periodically reviewing our policies and asking customers to vote on them. Since the first customer vote on The Co-operative Bank's Ethical Policy in 1992, we've reviewed the policy five times. The last customer vote, we introduced nine new statements reflecting changes in our customers' views.
More than 44,000 customers were involved in the launch of the The Co-operative Insurance and Investment's Ethical Engagement Policy in 2005, and so the Policy reflects their views on how we should use our influence on the companies we invest in.

The 2008 Ethical Policy vote gave our customers a say on what types of business they do, and don't, want their money to support. By voting, they made a difference to issues that are important to them, such as human rights, animal welfare, fair trade and climate change. Find out more on the results of this review.
