If you know just how community focused we are as a business, then you won't be at all surprised to hear how proud we were to be awarded 'Company of the year' in Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence, 2008.
Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence are the UK's most influential, independently and peer assessed corporate responsibility awards. They recognise businesses that have a positive impact on society through the workplace, marketplace, environment and community.
No doubt, the reach of our ethical policies contributed greatly to our being nominated and ultimately crowned winners of this award. After all, it's through unique ethical activities like our Customers Who Care campaigns that we inspire our partners. And it is our desire to openly address important issues like financial inclusion and climate change that have such a positive impact on our business and the community at large.
We were also pleased to have our efforts recognised with the award of Platinum status in the Business in the Community's Corporate Responsibility Index. This is the UK's leading voluntary benchmark of corporate responsibility, helping companies integrate and improve responsibility throughout their operations. The index is able to do this by providing a systematic approach to managing, measuring and reporting on the impact of business in society and on the environment.
